The board exams, which began on March 10 and concluded on April 6, 2026, were conducted at centres across the state in offline, pen-and-paper mode. Science became the most popular subject among students who scored centum.

Females dominated their male counterparts in terms of performance in all subjects. According to the results of 2025, the pass percentage for girls was much higher at 95.88%, while for boys it was only 91.74%. The same situation was observed in mathematics and English, where girls scored two percentage points more than boys. At the district level, it is noteworthy that Trichy and Kanyakumari were the districts where the gap between genders was highest, exceeding three percentage points.
