Mangaluru: In a big relief to CBSE class X students, the department of pre-university education has said that it will allow those students who have cleared their compartment exam, to get admission to PU colleges across the state. Many CBSE class X students who cleared their board examination, after appearing for supplementary exams, were left in the lurch, as the last date for PU admissions got over, when the results were announced. The last date for PU admission was August 12. However, the compartment exam results were announced on September 9.

Ramachandran R, director, DPUE, said that several parents and students had approached the department, expressing difficulties in not being able to admit candidates to PU colleges, as the admission deadline is over. “Considering their request, the department will allow CBSE candidates who have cleared compartment exams to take admission. As per the current decision, we will allow admissions till September 19. An official circular regarding the same will be sent to all district PU department heads, in a day or two. Parents need not panic,” said Ramachandran.

One of the parents, whose son recently cleared the CBSE class X compartment exam, said that PU colleges denied admitting his son, citing that the admission deadline was over a month ago. “It is helpful to candidates, if admissions are permitted to PU colleges, so that they can continue their studies, or else have to waste an academic year,” said the parent. The parent submitted a request letter to Dakshina Kannada DDPU C D Jayanna on Tuesday. Meanwhile, admissions for CBSE class XI are open till September 30.
