Alliance standings across Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Puducherry and Kerala
Counting is underway across four states and results are taking shape at a brisk pace. In Tamil Nadu, where 118 seats are needed for a majority in the 234-seat assembly, independent and smaller party candidates cumulatively hold a tally of 115 seats, with 10 declared and 105 leads still in play, leaving them just 3 short of the majority mark. SPA has a tally of 60, while NDA is at 55. In West Bengal, BJP has crossed the majority mark of 148 in the 294-seat house on the strength of its tally of 179, with 11 seats won and 168 leads, though declared wins alone are yet to confirm a majority. TMC trails with a tally of 106, having won 2 and leading in 104. In Puducherry, NDA holds a tally of 18 in the 30-seat assembly against a majority mark of 16, with 13 seats already won and 5 leads, placing it on course to form the government if those leads hold. SPA has a tally of 5. In Kerala, UDF leads the 140-seat count with a tally of 87, having won 68 seats and leading in 19, well past the majority mark of 71. LDF trails with a tally of 36, with 30 seats won and 6 leads. Candidates from other parties or independent candidates cumulatively lead in 17 seats in Kerala.
