Across four state assemblies, counting is producing sharply different pictures at this stage. In Assam, where 64 seats are needed for a majority in the 126-seat house, NDA has won 28 seats and is leading in 69 more, giving it a tally of 97 seats that already crosses the majority mark if those leads hold. Congress and its allies are trailing with a tally of 22, all from leads with no seats won yet. Candidates from other parties and independents cumulatively hold a tally of 7 in Assam. In Tamil Nadu, the majority mark is 118 in a 234-seat assembly. SPA has won 7 seats and is leading in 53, for a tally of 60, while NDA is leading in 55 with no seats declared, giving it a tally of 55.
