NDA, BJP, UDF lead as counting progresses across four states
Votes are being counted across Assam, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, and Kerala, with leads shifting as rounds come in. In Assam, where 64 seats are needed for a majority in the 126-seat assembly, NDA holds a tally of 97, having won 28 and leading in 69 more, crossing the majority mark if these leads hold. The Congress-led alliance has a tally of 22, all leads, while candidates from other parties or independents cumulatively account for 7 seats. In Tamil Nadu, the majority mark stands at 118 in a 234-seat house. SPA has won 7 and is leading in 53 for a tally of 60, while NDA is leading in 55 seats with no wins yet, giving it a tally of 55. Candidates from other parties or independents cumulatively lead in 115 seats, just 3 short of the majority mark, though no alliance has crossed it yet. West Bengal, with a majority mark of 148 across 294 seats, sees BJP leading in 168 and having won 11 for a tally of 179, crossing the majority threshold in leads. TMC has won 2 and is leading in 104 for a tally of 106, trailing by a considerable margin. Candidates from other parties or independents cumulatively account for 8 seats in the state. In Kerala, where 71 seats decide the majority in a 140-seat assembly, UDF has won 68 and is leading in 19 more, giving it a tally of 87 and crossing the majority mark if those leads hold. LDF has won 30 and is leading in 6 for a tally of 36, while candidates from other parties or independents cumulatively hold a tally of 17 seats.
