​Sugar baron sheds 15 kgs for effective campaigning

Punjab's richest candidate in the February 4 election, sugar baron Rana Gurjit Singh, went for a weight loss programme to Britain last year as he was finding it difficult to take on the rough and tumble of rural Punjab with extra flab. The three-time Congress MLA from Kapurthala has shed 15kgs since October when he weighed 92kgs.

​Lost her husband to dengue, woman makes healthcare an issue

Fifteen days after getting a ticket to contest the Punjab assembly election from Shutrana constituency, Palwainder Kaur lost her husband to dengue. The unfortunate event didn't stop the 39-year-old sarpanch, rather she made health infrastructure in Punjab her main plank for the elections.

Leftist icon and singer Bant Singh turn to be star campaigner

Bant was attacked by upper caste persons in his native Jhabbar village in 2006 after he accused them of raping his daughter in 2002. Bant Singh sings songs lauding Dalits' contribution to society as well those on patriotism. Bant Singh joined AAP on December 26.

NRIs flying in to campaign

AAP's overseas wing, youth convener Joban Randhawa who floated 'Chalo Punjab' campaign, said, "We are expecting 35,000 NRIs to come to Punjab for campaigning for AAP before polls. About 3,500 to 4,000 NRIs have already reached Punjab". The party claims that NRIs are coming in from the US, the UK, New Zealand, Belgium, Norway, Thailand among others for campaigning
