NDA, BJP, UDF lead as counting progresses across four states
Votes are being counted across Assam, West Bengal, Puducherry, and Kerala, with leads shifting as rounds come in. In Assam, where 64 seats are needed for a majority in the 126-seat assembly, NDA has won 28 seats and is leading in 69 more, giving it a tally of 97. The Congress-led combine is leading in 22 seats with no wins declared yet, while candidates from other parties or independents cumulatively account for a tally of 7. In West Bengal, the 294-seat house requires 148 for a majority. BJP holds a tally of 179, with 11 seats won and leads in 168, well past the halfway mark if those leads hold. TMC has won 2 and is leading in 104, bringing its tally to 106, while candidates from other parties or independents cumulatively lead in 8 seats. In Puducherry, NDA leads the 30-seat union territory where 16 seats form the majority, having won 13 and leading in 5 more for a tally of 18. SPA has a tally of 5, with 2 won and 3 leads. Candidates from other parties or independents cumulatively hold a tally of 7 seats. In Kerala, where 71 seats are needed in the 140-seat assembly, UDF is firmly placed with 68 seats won and leads in 19 more, giving it a tally of 87. LDF has won 30 and is leading in 6, with a tally of 36, while candidates from other parties or independents cumulatively hold a tally of 17 seats.
