Thanjavur Assembly Election Results 2026 Live Updates: R Vijaysaravanan wins for TVK, registers 16,955-vote lead

In Thanjavur, R Vijaysaravanan of TVK secured a clear victory, polling 87,705 votes and defeating DMK’s Shan Ramanathan by a margin of 16,955 votes. BJP’s Karuppu Muruganantham finished third with 26,790 votes, as the constituency delivered a decisive mandate in favour of TVK.

TVK is currently leading in 172 of Tamil Nadu's 234 assembly seats, putting the party well past the majority mark of 118 if these leads hold. AIADMK is trailing at a tally of 26 seats, while DMK is leading in 24 constituencies. With no seats declared yet, counting remains active across the state.
