"Both the state election commission as well as the state government are stating that it is not possible to hold the local body elections in Madras high court as well as in Supreme Court. "I have a doubt whether there should be a separate election commission under Palaniswami and Velumani alone," said Stalin.

"The state government wants the SEC to work as a 'power agent' and instead of helping the SEC, the government is postponing the election," he said. "We need the local bodies to solve problems faced by people in villages and urban areas. The local bodies cannot be managed with special officers alone. I request the state election commission to be independent and hold the elections," said Stalin.
