Any guess how noted filmmaker Kamaleswar Mukhopadhyay, also a doctor by profession, is keeping himself busy these days? Well, the ‘Passward’ director along with his team of medical and non-medical volunteers has been offering medical assistance to people in need over the past few weeks. They have created volunteer groups to extend support, especially to those who are currently in home isolation.

The team is more focused on the followings initiatives:
1. Creation of safe homes with doctor - nurse - health workers' support
2. Getting oxygen concentrators for localities
3. Gathering non-medical volunteers
4. Organising crowd-funding
5. Creating a crisis-response team of medical volunteers
6. Ensuring availability of medicines at MRP so that black marketing can be controlled.
While speaking about their initiative, Kamaleswar shared the team is trying their best to be with people in distress. Especially the COVID-affected families. “We feel these are the need of the hour, not just for our country, but also for our state. We are trying to organize youngsters and doctors’ teams to build a sustainable system so that we could help at least some people,” said Kamaleswar while speaking to ETimes during an exclusive chat.

“My number is provided on the FB profile and calls are coming in. I have already taken to the streets to distribute masks and measure oxygen saturation,” adds the filmmaker who has always been vocal about pressing social issues.
Just like celebs from all around the country, several Tolly celebs including Srijit Mukherji, Abi Chatterjee, Parambrata Chatterjee, Swastika Mukherjee, Mimi Chakraborty, Anupam Roy and others are also doing their bit to help the families of COVID patients. Not just donating money, they are using social media to amplify SOS calls, which has so far helped so many people in distress.
