A celebration of women takes centre stage in Phool Pishi O Edward
A new film celebrating the many shades of womanhood has unveiled its poster on the occasion of International Women’s Day, offering the first glimpse into the world of Phool Pishi O Edward. The film, directed by the acclaimed duo Nandita Roy and Shiboprosad Mukherjee, promises a story rooted in relationships, resilience and the strength of women.
At the heart of the poster is Phool Pishi, played by celebrated theatre and film actor Sohini Sengupta. The striking visual also introduces a powerful ensemble cast that includes Raima Sen, Shyamoupti Mudly, Ananya Chatterjee, Koneenica Banerjee and Anamika Saha, each portraying characters with distinct personalities and stories.
The poster features the women in striking bridal and traditional attire, hinting at layered narratives and strong individual journeys. With Phool Pishi seated at the centre, the visual suggests a commanding matriarchal presence, surrounded by women from different walks of life.
Sharing her excitement about the project, Raima said the film holds a special place for her as it marks her first collaboration with the directors. “Phool Pishi O Edward is very special for me because it marks my first collaboration with Nandita Roy and Shiboprosad Mukherjee, whose films have always celebrated strong and nuanced women. Nandita di is incredibly motherly and from the very beginning she made me feel completely comfortable on set. Working with both of them was such a warm and enriching experience. We had a lovely time shooting with such an amazing cast and crew, and I truly hope to work with them again in the future. On the occasion of Women’s Day, I feel even more grateful to be part of a story that celebrates the strength, individuality and spirit of women.”
Phool Pishi O Edward is expected to be a heartfelt narrative exploring womanhood, relationships and the many roles women embody in society. The poster launch on International Women’s Day further reflects the spirit of the story — a tribute to women and their voices.
