Abhijit Guha to play Jatayu in Sandip Ray’s Hatyapuri

Director Abhijit Guha is on cloud nine. The director-actor is playing Jatayu in Sandip Ray’s next Feluda film, Hatyapuri. “What more can an actor ask for in life? When Babu da (Sandip) approached me for this role, I pinched myself to actually believe if it was happening for real. Stalwarts like Santosh Dutta, Robi Ghosh and Anup Kumar have played Jatayu in Feluda films and television series. So, for me, it is an honour to be able to get the opportunity to play Jatayu on screen. I am playing the character keeping in mind the director’s guidance and my personal interpretation. Innocence and childlike behaviour shape Jatayu’s character. Playing Jatayu is not easy, but Babu da is making it simple and easy. As a director, Babuda is calm, comforting, and precise. Working with him is a great experience,” said the actor, who is shooting in Kolkata now. The team will be shooting in Puri from end of July.
Hatyapuri is a murder thriller where the three musketeers’ vacation is upturned when they discover an unidentified dead body on the beach. Feluda, being inquisitive as always, sets his search for unraveling the mystery behind the murder. With progress, a web of dark truth is revealed as Feluda, Topshe and Jatayu dig deep into the case.
From June, Abhijit Guha along with Sudeshna Roy will start shooting for a new rom-com titled Anshuman MBA. The film stars Soham and Koushani Mukherjee in the lead. “We will be shooting in and around Kolkata,” said Abhijit.
