‘The tale of a Santa and his Moth’ directed by filmmaker Aneek Chaudhuri is now an Official Selection at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne 2022. The film earlier premiered in the Market section of Festival de Cannes.
‘The tale of a Santa and his Moth’ is a feature-length film that stars Pawan Chopra and Usha Banerjee in leading roles, while city veteran Ashok Kanjilal plays a pivotal role in this film.
The film is a poignant story revolving around a bisexual widower and his daughter and it also entails the war in the backdrop commenting on the issues of homosexual prostitution, war survival and terminal illness.
On the selection, the director says, “Melbourne fest is almost like a home to me. I began my filmmaking career at the very film fest when my debut short won it big in 2011. Therefore, it is an emotional affair making it to the Indian film festival of Melbourne.”
Aneek has also helmed the camera along with Sreekanth Shivaswamy and the music has been composed by city musician Sandipan Ganguly.
Aneek further adds, “The team should be happy making it to Melbourne; so is Mr. Chopra. It’s been so intense for the whole team on floors and it was quite hectic wrapping up on such a short notice. Right from the beginning, we had been quite sure of our project and we are in the near future too. Usha’s performance is something that has been appreciated a lot in this film; Pawan ji is indeed electric on screen. We hope to garner great responses from the people over there.”
The festival runs from August 12-20, 2022 and it will also have its virtual edition till August 30.
