Anirban Roy begins formal training under santoor player Tarun Bhattacharya
Santoor player Tarun Bhattacharya formally accepted young flautist Anirban Roy as his disciple through a traditional Ganda Bandhan ceremony, marking the establishment of a guru-disciple relationship under the Guru-Shishya Parampara.
Speaking on the occasion, Bhattacharya said the ceremony symbolizes a commitment to music, discipline and responsibility. He described Anirban, who belongs to the Maihar Gharana tradition, as a dedicated student of music.
The son and disciple of flautist Lokenath Roy, Anirban began learning the flute at a young age and has performed at classical music festivals across the country. He has also appeared on Hunarbaaz – Desh Ki Shaan and shared the stage with several noted musicians. The ceremony marks the beginning of Anirban's formal training under Bhattacharya.
