According to Anjan Dutta, Byomkesh is one of the most interesting, attractive, and critical detective characters among others in Bengali literature. Now that Debaloy Bhattacharya is all set for an experiment with the iconic sleuth and making a spin-off on an octogenarian Satyanweshi Byomkesh, Anjan Dutta has welcomed the initiative.

"When I first acquired the rights of Byomkesh in 2009, I believed a franchise can be made with this iconic character just like Feluda. So many films are made on Byomkesh. It's definitely high time for an experiment. I believe the audience will accept a different kind of film. It will be interesting, I have seen the trailer. Abir looks great as an 80-year-old Byomkesh, it’s interesting," the noted filmmaker said.

Abir Chatterjee will sport two different looks in this much-anticipated spin-off, an aged Byomkesh and his grandson Satyaki. With Abir and Sohini Sarkar playing the lead characters, Arindam Sil, Rahul Banerjee, and Joy Sengupta will be seen in pivotal roles.

‘Bidaay Byomkesh’ is releasing on July 20, 2018.
