A large section of city residents was waiting with bated breath to catch the biggest event on the
Hollywood
calendar, the 91st
Academy Awards, on Monday morning. But a major thunderstorm hit Kolkata in the wee hours of Monday, leading to an internet and cable TV blackout in many areas that left several Oscar awards enthusiasts high and dry.
Actor-director
Arindam Sil enjoyed every bit of the Oscars telecast this morning. "I wouldn't have missed the telecast for anything. I watched it right from the beginning. Thankfully the storm didn't disrupt the television connection and I could watch it. The storm was scary. Although I stay on the 44th floor of a high-rise but experiencing it was no less frightening. The violent outbreak of thunder and lightning during the wee hours woke me up. Thankfully, my TV network wasn't disrupted and I enjoyed the show," he said. On being asked about his favourite films that made to the Oscar nominations,
Arindam
said, "My favourite films are
Bohemian Rhapsody
and Roma. I couldn't watch Green Book or Favourite as yet but I'm planning to watch those two."
