Arpan Basak’s ‘Malini’ is a short thriller revolving around an established young writer Saranjit. At 27, he has already completed four novels which have been widely accepted by the readers.
The story of ‘Malini’ starts when Saranjit is in his initial thought process of his fifth novel. Something is distracting him from penning down his thoughts and it ends up in an abnormal behavioral change in Saranjit.

The short film is all about how Saranjit will complete his fifth novel.
The cast includes Supratim Saha, Sujoy Prasad Chatterjee and Rii in pivotal. "I found the character very interesting and I love that this whole project is being led by young director Arpan Basak" said Sujoy.
Meanwhile, Rii plays Sreemoyee, a reporter who unravels the story behind Saranjeet’s messed-up life. She is the one person who, fighting all odds, tracks down Saranjeet and convinces him to reveal the story of his life.
While the concept and direction are by Arpan Basak, cinematography has been handled by Anubhav Chatterjee. The short film had its digital release recently.
