‘Avijatrik’ to compete at the Grammy Awards for Best Original Soundtrack

Subhrajit Mitra’s National Award winning film ‘Avijatrik’ continues to earn accolades worldwide. The period drama which saw Satyajit Ray’s iconic Apu returning to the big screen after years will now compete at the Grammy Awards for Best Original Soundtrack composed by Bickram Ghosh. It’s surely a proud moment for the entire team of ‘Avijatrik’.
Bickram himself took to his Twitter handle to announce the news, Now time for The Grammys’ Abhijan(Journey) for ‘#Avijatrik’ National Award winning Bengali Film "Avijatrik" sequel of 'Apu Trilogy' The wonderlust of Apu, ( directed by @SubhrajitMitra, Produced by #GaurangFilms )winner of several International Awards and nominations is now competing for The #Grammy Awards for Best Original Soundtrack Music score by yours truly ! We’ve just submitted! Bless us and support us @ShankarAnoushka features on the soundtrack,” he wrote.

‘Avijatrik’ is a film with soulful music and rich legacy. With ‘Avijatrik’ (The Wanderlust of Apu), the enduring and endearing character of ‘Apu’ returns to silver screen after six decades! It is the sequel to the classic ‘Apu Trilogy’, directed by Satyajit Ray. The plot takes off from where ‘The Apu Trilogy’ ended in 1959 with ‘Apur Sansar’. The story revolves around a sublime bond between a father (Apu) and his 6-year-old son (Kajol).

The film has an ensemble of experienced cast and crew, and was shot at 68 locations to retain the rich aesthetic flavour that compliments its backdrop of 1940’s India. Besides Arjun Chakrabarty(as Apu), Ditipriya Roy, Arpita Chatterjee, Sabyasachi Chakrabarty, Master Ayushmaan Mukherjee, Sreelekha Mitra, Biswanath Basu, Tanushree Shankar, Barun Chanda and Sohag Sen in key roles.
Earlier in July, 'Avijatik' bagged the Best Bengali Feature Film award at the 68th National Film Awards. The film's DOP Supratim Bhol also won the Best Cinematography award. The winners of the 68th National Awards.
