Bengali celebs pay homage to Supriya Devi on birth anniversary

Supriya Devi is no more, but her feminist legacy lives on. The legendary Bengali actress breathed her last at her South Kolkata residence on January 26 last year after a massive heart attack at the age of 85. Born on January 8, 1933, in Mitkina in erstwhile Burma (now Myanmar), Supriya Devi has been one of the iconic figures of the golden era of Bengali film industry which apparently saw her straddle the screen space with great aplomb alongside Uttam Kumar and Suchitra Sen.

Today, January 8, marks the 86th birth anniversary of the late actress and Tollywood celebs such as Prosenjit Chatterjee, Paoli Dam and many others pay their tribute to the legendary actress sharing heart-touching messages on social media.

Prosenjit Chatterjee wrote on his Twitter handle: “Born on January 8, 1933, in Mitkina in erstwhile Burma (now Myanmar), Supriya Devi has been one of the iconic figures of the golden era of Bengali film industry which apparently saw her straddle the screen space with great aplomb alongside Uttam Kumar and Suchitra Sen.”
