National Award Winner
Bidyut Kotoky’s film in Assamese,
Xhoihobote Dhemalite
(Rainbow Fields), after travelling to prestigious film festivals, has made its way to Kolkata. The film that released in Nandan yesterday marks the debut of model-actor actress
Dipannita Sharma in Assamese films. The film narrates a sensitive story of children growing up amidst the insurgency in Northeast India in the 1980s. It throws light on the lasting marks such violence leave on the psyche of children and how their parents deal with it. Speaking to us about the film and her character, Dipannita said, "This is my first Assamese film and I'm happy that the film is receiving such accolades. Every country has, at some point, seen violence so it's an identifiable film for audiences across the globe. The most fascinating thing about the film is that there's violence in the backdrop but there's no bloodshed in the entire film. I play a parent in the film and the experience has been great. I was required to be completely raw and my friends and family loved me in the film," she said. The actress is also excited that the film released in Nandan. "My film releasing in Nandan is a big deal. It's a cultural hub and I'm happy that the film will run at such a respected
theatre
," the actress signed off.
