Poet
Jibananda Das
and the mystery surrounding his personal life once used to be the talk of the town and now
Sayantan Mukherjee has come up with a new film that revolves around the chaos and turmoil between Jibananda Das's creative and domestic life.
The film titled ‘Jhora Palok’ will see
Bratya Basu as Jibananda Das and
Jaya Ahsan as his wife Labanyaprabha. The official trailer is already out and both the protagonists seem to have done justice to the characters.
The highs and lows of creative and domestic life are the main essence of the movie. The black and white visuals with a faint flare of sepia in the trailer depict the times where Basu plays the poet. A soul quite disturbed and messed up, trying hard to balance home, and excel at writing. However, being rebuked had become a part of return at both ends.
Jibananda is regarded as one of the best poets of Post Tagore times. However, we almost know nothing about his stories. The movie has been adapted from his first semi-autobiographical novel Malyaban, which was published after his death.
‘Jhora Palok’ sheds light on the parts of the late poet’s life that are quite unknown to readers. The struggles, frustration and disappointments that haunted him, in the long run, find a place in the narrative.
Apart from Bratya and Jaya, Rahul Arunoday Banerjee has been cast as young Jibananda.
Debshankar Halder
,
Kaushik Sen, Biplab Banerjee,
Shantilal Mukherjee, Srila Mujumdar, Padmanabha Dasgupta, Pawan Kanodia, and Sudipta Chatterjee are also playing key roles in the film.
