Tollywood recently churned out a short film,
The Round Trip
. Directed by
Priyam Chanda
, who is an engineer by profession, the short is based on a story by Sushovan Dasgupta. The short revolves around Sanaya, a lady in her mid-30s, who is an US citizen of Indian origin, but doesn’t have any known blood relations in this world. The only person she calls her family is her husband, Mihir, who she lives with. The couple is currently going through a turning point in their life, trying to choose between adoption and pregnancy in order to extend their family. Mihir prefers the former as opposed to Sanaya, who has her own conviction about the ‘purity’ of blood relations. As
Sanaya
is in two minds, she finds her first cousin, Tushar, through the ancestry portal (a popular human genome project). She visits India, for the first-time ever in her life to meet Tushar and his family. The reunion goes fairly well until she finds out some striking facts. While
Asmita Bhaduri
plays Sanaya,
Anindya Banerjee is seen as Tushar. The cast also includes Avinaba Pal Chaudhury and Pampa Banerjee. The film’s music is scored by Daipayan Karmakar and Dipankar Saha and the lyrics are penned by Amit Das. Arijit Sarkar has been roped in as the DoP. Shooting for the short is already over.
