Over the years, Bengali film industry is used to witness massive box office clash during
Durga Puja as most of the producers target this festive season to make their ventures successful. Three, four releases during Durga Puja are not a big deal for audiences.
But, this time trade analysts are predicting a massive clash at the Box Office during the Bengali New Year weekend as well.
We may get to see as many as four releases -
Dev starrer ‘Kabir’, Anjan Dutta's musical drama ‘Aami Asbo Phire’, Haranath Chakraborty's ‘Kantay Kanta’ and Aniket Chattopadhyay’s ‘Shankar Mudi’. Subhashree-Shakib starrer ‘Chaalbaaz’ is also a big attraction.
However, the release of ‘Shankar Mudi’ now remains uncertain as the producer Kaustav Roy has been arrested for alleged money laundering.
Kaushik Ganguly's another movie, Prosenjit-Rituparna starrer ‘Drishtikone’ was initially scheduled to release on the same day but later it was delayed by few weeks.
Interestingly, the year 2014 saw a mega battle at the Bengali box-office with two big budget films - ‘Byomkesh Phire Elo’ and ‘Badshahi Angti’, releasing on the same day. While one film saw Abir Chatterjee as Byomkesh, the other had the actor playing the role of Feluda.
Both films had the same producer, Kaustav Roy who decided to introduce a twist in the box office clash to attract a wider audience.
