‘Durgeshgorer Guptodhon’ has opened to great audience response. The treasure hunt drama succeeds in its unpredictability in the plot and the way director Dhrubo Banerjee has incorporated the clues to the treasure into the traditions of a Bengali erstwhile zaminder family. It’s surely an entertaining watch for those who love treasure hunt films. But, before you watch the film here’s a look at some crazy fun facts from the film which will surely double your excitement.

In ‘Guptodhoner Sandhane’, Dhrubo Banerjee used only one song and that too a Rabindrasangeet. However, the second film in the treasure hunt franchise ‘Durgeshgarher Guptodhon’ has multiple tracks. As the main figure in this film is Ma Durga so the chanting of her has been used all through the film. According to the director, this chanting has been used as a musical statement in his film and he believes the audience will surely remember this musical signature. Dhrubo had earlier thanked Bickram Ghosh who has composed the music for ‘Durgeshgorer Guptodhon’ and the entire music department for creating such a musical masterpiece.

The adventure drama created history even before its theatrical release. The trailer of the film was launched earlier this month on 11 Facebook pages and YouTube channels simultaneously while the cast had a live interaction with the audience at the same time. The event made ‘Durgeshgorer Guptodhon’ trailer launch one of the highest viewed live engagements for a Bengali film. The trailer starts with Sona da telling his nephew Abir that it’s time for a new treasure hunt adventure and then we hear the super energetic history rap (done by Bickram Ghosh). It informs us professor Subarno Sen aka Sona da is back for a second adventure and this time he is about to visit Durgeshgor. The year Sona da, Abir and Jhinuk have to go back in search of a treasure is 1757.

The adventure thriller starts with History professor Subarna Sen, aka Sona da, giving a visit to one of Sona da’s students’ ancestral house at Durgeshgor along with his sidekicks Abir and Jhinuk. Interestingly, the student’s great grandfather was an erstwhile zaminder and a popular artist of Bengal and here comes the twist in the story. There is a myth in the zaminder family that they once possessed a treasure with huge historical importance, but unfortunately there’s no trace of it now. Meanwhile, Sona da, Abir and Jhinuk visit the mansion in Durgeshgor during Durga Puja and come across some lost clues that can lead them to discover one of Bengal’s greatest treasures.

Sonada, Abir, and Jhinuk may have bonded over their love for adventure, but on the set ‘Durgeshgorer Guptodhon’ cast and crew members actually bonded over some delicious food. After the shot division was done, the team would then decide the menu of the next day, according to director Dhrubo Banerjee. Speaking of the leading trio Abir, Arjun and Ishaa’s function he said, “In real life, Arjun is not a foodie at all but his character demands it to be so. Ishaa loves to eat though she is conscious. Both Abir and Anindya love good food. So, there was a lot of ‘food bonding’ among the cast and crew.”

It happened when the shoot was going on at the Technician Studios and Prosenjit Chatterjee walked in one day surprising everyone. The Tollywood star was there to meet cinematographer Samik Halder but stayed there for some time to see how Dhrubo's team is shooting. "When he saw that we are shooting a rather technically-challenged section, he took interest in it. It was so inspiring to see a person at his level requesting to sit back and have a look," said the director. To him, it was an honor.

In ‘Durgeshgorer Guptodhon’ Abir Chatterjee reprises the role of Professor Subarna Sen aka Sona da along with Arjun Chakraborty as Abir and Ishha Saha playing Jhinuk just like they did in ‘Guptodhoner Sondhane’. When we asked whether there is any similarity between Abir Chatterjee and Sona Da, the answer was a prompt reply from Abir revealing what similarities he has with Sona Da.

“I am not that adventurous like Sona da, instead I prefer staying at home. Yes, I like history now. But that doesn’t mean history was my favourite subject in school days. It’s because the type of education system we had that time, we used to learn everything from the core of heart. In the film Subarna Sen used to be history professor in London and he had given tuition to many students. But that’s not the case with me in real life. I have never given tuition to kids but in our time, many used to give tuition for pocket money. My favourite subject was accountancy and I used to help friends. But I never see myself as a teacher like Sona da. But we have some similarities as well. We are pure Bengali. I also like the new generation. I do have a knack for riddles but I am can’t solve them like Sona da. Plus, I believe I have a great observation power just like Sona da,” explains Abir.
