Debasish Sen Sharma: ‘AranyaDeb’ is the marriage between the real and unreal

Starring Jisshu Sengupta and Mir in the lead, Debasish Sen Sharma’s ‘Aranyadeb’ juggles between four different timelines: early 80’s, mid 90’s, present day and 20 years later. It narrates the journey of two close friends in pursuit of a real superhero within them and around.

While elaborating on the film’s concept, director Debasish Sen Sharma explained, “AranyaDeb is basically a marriage between the real and the unreal. The narrative, through two friends

and Deb, portrays two different characters and their day to day struggle.”

Aranya (played by Jisshu Sengupta) is a laidback guy who considers himself a superhero. Deb (played by Mir Afsar Ali), meanwhile, is a superhero in every aspect of life; be it education, career or family. Two close friends Aranya and Deb once get separated at the age of 14 and as destiny would have it, meet again at the age of 40. Something magical happens on that special day which changes the course of their lives.
