Which of the Dev films are you waiting for?

He's an actor, politician, producer and restaurateur, but all that the two-time TMC MP Dev wants to be remembered for is his goodness and, obviously, his acting skills. His last release ‘Password’ became a conversation starter among the tech-savvy youth during the Puja. And now, as the year is coming to an end, Dev is looking forward to deliver more hits to his fans. Here’s a list of films in which Dev will be seen playing some interesting roles. Read on…

2/5

‘Sanjhbati’

Sulekha is a lonely and short tempered elderly woman who lives alone in Kolkata. Her son lives in London and is busy with his work. Hence he cannot meet his mother often. She is looked after by her caretakers Chandan and Fuli. Chana Babu, her neighbour is also her well wisher. That’s how the story of Leena Gangopadhyay and Saibal Banerjee’s next ‘Sanjhbati’ moves on and after years we would get to see Dev beyond his ‘superstar’ image. He plays Chandan, an average Bengali town boy, in the film which will release on December 20.

3/5

‘Tonic’

It’s Bengal Talkies’ second film with Dev. Beside the Tollywood superstar essaying a common man’s role, Paran Bandopadhyay and Shakuntala Barua play the parents of popular actor Sujon Mukherjee in the film. The story revolves around a possessive son and his father. It shows how a son’s over-possessiveness affects their relationship. The problem becomes severe when the son celebrates his parents’ 50th anniversary in a low-key way, but makes sure his own anniversary is celebrated in a grand way. Dev’s character comes in between the father-son relationship and we see how he tries to make things better. The release date of this family drama hasn’t yet revealed.

4/5

‘Golondazz’

We already know Dev will play Nagendra Prasad Sarbadhikari, the man who is called the father of Indian football, in Dhrubo Banerjee’s next directorial. The magnum opus is being produced by SVF and has been titled ‘Golondazz’. Keeping in sync with the traditional Bangaliyana and following the historical traits like his last two films, Dhrubo’s story is inspired by real-life incidents from the period of Bengal renaissance. This film will also mark Dev’s return to SVF after the 2017 blockbuster ‘Amazon Obhijaan’. For years, they have ruled the commercial space of Bengali cinema and now the hit jodi is set to weave magic yet again. Interestingly, Dev has never been part of a football movie. While the pre-production work is already underway, the period drama will be shot in and around Kolkata. It eyes a summer release next year.

5/5

‘Mission 16’

Speculation is rife that Dev will be seen in an action flick which will be a Indo-Bangladesh project. Tentatively titled ‘Mission 16’, it will reportedly be directed by Raja Chanda. Recently Dev was in Bangladesh for the promotion of his ‘Password’ which released in Bangladesh last week and he revealed this exciting news to the Bangladeshi media while speaking about his upcoming projects. It will surely excite his fans in the neighbouring country.
