An award show which will celebrate excellence in Durga Puja celebrations globally, was announced on Saturday. This year's event marks a significant expansion with the introduction of new recognition categories. The grand unveiling was graced by actress Nussrat Jahan and filmmaker Barun Chanda among others.
The award will recognise and felicitate 60 Pujos across the globe, reinforcing the worldwide appeal and cultural significance of this festival. Representatives from eight such pujas attended the event to receive the awards.This year, this initiative will also award the best Durga Puja in Bangladesh, marking a historic moment for cross-border cultural recognition. Additionally, the awards will see the inclusion of four new locations in Bengal, such as Newtown, Baruipur, Howrah and Kalyani, further emphasising the diverse and widespread celebration of Durga Puja.
“Our vision is to present an immersive and inclusive experience that celebrates Kolkata's cultural richness, fostering unity and understanding worldwide. Through innovative initiatives and collaborations, we aim to elevate Durga Puja into a global art showcase and entrepreneurial hub, promoting tourism, enhancing local economies and creating a lasting cultural legacy that resonates internationally while enriching the local community,” said a member of this organisation.
