The official trailer
Srijit Mukherji’s much awaited thriller ‘Dwitiyo Purush’ is out now promising a superb start to the year 2020 for all Bengali cine buffs. Nine years ago, Srijit’s ‘Baishey Srabon’ became a sensation. Now almost a decade later, he is back with its spin-off ‘Dwitiyo Purush’ that seems to traverse more dangerous territories.
The story will start from where ‘Baishey Srabon’ had left off and we will get to see Parambrata Chattopadhyay reprising the role of detective Abhijit Pakarashi and
Raima Sen will relive her character Amrita, Abhijit’s love interest.
Also,
Abir Chatterjee will be returning with his role of Surya in a special appearance.

Also, the trailer introduces some new interesting faces. Like, Anirban Bhattacharya surprises everyone with his new look of Khoka, who is synonymous to violence. So is the character played Rwitobroto Mukherjee as he comes out of his boy-next-door avatar to deliver a fearsome image. Babul Supriyo and Kamaleswar Mukherjee too can be seen in the trailer.
The trailer kicks off with a voiceover from
Prosenjit Chatterjee, (who played the iconic character of Prabir Roychowdhury in ‘Baishey Srabon’), bidding adieu to all, thus hinting on the beginning of a new chapter. The story follows a time frame in Kolkata where a series of serial killings shock the city once again 25 years after it first took place and Abhijit Pakrashi (Parambrata) has been given the task of hunting down the killer. Thus, it promises an unpredictable journey in search of a murderer. The trailer ends with an interesting message, this film is “not for the faint-hearted...not for the soft spoken.... not for the mild minded.”
Produced by SVF, ‘Dwitiyo Purush’ is slated to release on January 23, 2020. The music of the film is by Anupam Roy.
