Finally, Tollywood is getting back to its normal schedule, more specifically ‘new normal’ as Anshuman Pratyush has already started shooting his next ‘SOS Kolkata’. Now,
Parambrata Chattopadhyay has resumed the shooting of his next directorial ‘Abhijaan’, a biopic on thespian Soumitra Chattopadhyay, from July 14.
The shoot for the Soumitra Chattopadhyay biopic got stalled since March 17 due to the Lockdown and it finally resumed yesterday.
The crew will be shooting three days a week now and the entire shoot is scheduled to wrap up by the first week of August.
Veteran actor Soumitra Chattopadhyay shot his scenes on Tuesday. Lead actors
Jisshu Sengupta and Debshankar Haldar were also present for the shoot. The shots were taken at locations like Jodhpur Park and Tapan Theatre.
In the film, produced by Rataan Shree Nirman & Roadshow Films Pvt. Ltd, Soumitra Chattopadhyay will play himself at his age while Jisshu Sengupta will essay the role of a younger Soumitra.
“The starting point was this offer from my co-producers and this doctor who is a resident of New Jersey who has been in charge of translating Soumitra jethu’s prose works into English, so they came up with the idea that something like this might be thought of... and they shared the thought with me. And once they did, I took a good two-
three months to decide whether this can actually make for an exciting proposition. And slowly I reached the conclusion that yes, Soumitra Chattapadhyay’s life can be viewed, can be seen from a certain perspective, not just as a film actor that everybody in Bengal knows,” Parambrata had earlier revealed while speaking about the biopic.
Apart from Jisshu Sengupta,
Paoli Dam will be seen as Suchitra Sen, critically acclaimed filmmaker Qaushiq Mukherjee will essay
Satyajit Ray. Sohini Sarkar will play Madhabi Mukhopadhyay.
Rudranil Ghosh will take on the role of legendary Rabi Ghosh.
