Flashmob on a rain-soaked street! Koushani Mukherjee performs ‘Dakatiya Banshi’ on a busy street of Kolkata

After the repercussions and ripple effects of RG Kar rape-murder incident, the Bengali entertainment industry is gearing up to get back to its feet. The Bengali film fraternity is prepping for the upcoming Durga Puja releases. Amongst others, ‘Bohurupi’ is one of the most anticipated films that are set to release this Puja. Before the theatrical release of the film, the creators are currently busy promoting the same in innovative ways. On Wednesday, one of the lead female actors of the film, Koushani Mukherjee took to a busy street of Kolkata to perform ‘Dakatiya Banshi’, the latest song of from the music album of ‘Bohurupi’.

Despite the constant drizzling throughout the day, Koushani appeared on a busy street of the city of joy in a saree and performed the song with the other performers. In the film, In the music video, Koushani is seen wearing a red sari, with loose hair and kohl-lined eyes, radiating emotion. She is seen swaying her hips to the beat while dancing with a troupe at a rural fair. On Wednesday, the rain could not drown the spirits of the performers including Koushani, and they presented a fiery performance with a flashmob.

Since its release, the song has garnered immense praise from netizens, who are not only impressed by Koushani's performance but also by the lyrics written by Anindya Bose and Nonichora Das Baul, which have resonated deeply with listeners. Shreshtha Das, who has sung the item number, has been garnering appreciation for her work on the music album.

Koushani mentioned that she had very little time to prepare for the performance. The actress revealed that she learned the entire routine during breaks in shooting, and the dance was shot in just eight hours. However, to everyone’s satisfaction, Koushani was able to pull off the dance just the way the creators had envisioned.

‘Bohurupi’, that boasts an ensemble cast, comprising actors like Abir Chatterjee, Ritabhari Chakraborty, Koushani Mukherjee, and Shiboprosad Mukherjee, is set to release on October 8.
