Found his character in Abhijan quite challenging: Anik Dutta

From “Fight, Koni fight,” in Koni, “Bandar Bachcha” in Jhinder Bondi to his dance moves on the song Ke Tumi Nandini in

Teen Bhubaner Pare

Soumitra Chatterjee created innumerable magic moments on the big screen. We asked a few Tolly directors to tell us about their favourite screen moments from the legend’s oeuvre. Here’s what Anik Dutta said…
"Feluda series is my favourite, but I think that is because of the literary character that Soumitrada portrayed. He fitted into the character seamlessly. Besides Apu in Apur Sansar, from among the Satyajit Ray films, I found his character in Abhijan quite challenging and hence a favourite. Soumitrada was a handsome man who had every bit of Bangaliana in his appearance. In Abhijan, he superseded that Bangaliana and became Narsingh, the non-Bengali Taxi driver. His expressions of angst and anger were just right. As for non-Ray films, I'll vote for Saat Pake Bandha. In fact, during Barunbabur Bondhu, my brief to him was to be that elderly Soumitra from

Saat Paeke Bandha
