More skeletons come tumbling out of the cupboard after the Enforcement Directorate’s grilling of former West Bengal minister Partha Chatterjee and her aide Arpita Mukherjee who was once a struggling actress.
Incidentally, Arpita’s only Bengali film as a lead actress came in 2011. Titled ‘Hridoye Lekho Naam’, the film was directed by Dayal Acharya. Apart from Arpita, it also had Trambak, Mrinal Mukherjee and Rita Koyral in pivotal roles.While all the shocking money laundering facts are making headlines now here’s an interesting fact about Arpita Mukherjee. During a recent interview with a media outlet, the film’s producer Goutam Saha revealed that the former actress only took five lakhs including fooding and lodging for playing the lead actress in the film. He also claimed that Arpita didn’t have any starry tantrum and she just wanted to be a heroine.
‘Hridoye Lekho Naam’s story revolved around a girl and a boy who initially don’t like each other but eventually fall in love. The plot takes a turn when they escape from their house. Arpita’s acting in the film impressed the director and even the producer of the film but soon she lost her focus and became more interested in the glitz and glamour of a ‘page 3’ life.

The former actress appeared in two films sharing the screen with superstars like Prosenjit Chatterjee and Jeet. Her career started as a model way back in 2004 and after a few years of struggle, finally in 2008, she bagged a key role in the film ‘Partner’ alongside Jeet. In 2010, she was again seen in the film 'Mama Bhagne' which had Prosenjit Chatterjee in the lead.
