Gym Gam: Sayantani Guhathakurta shares her fitness mantra
A hectic shoot schedule may often weigh them down, but most stars of our Tollywood tinsel town, behind all that hee-haw we see on screen, are pretty serious about how they shape up. To find out what keeps these actors going through the grind, we took a closer look at actress Sayantani Guhathakurta’s fitness routines as she opened up on a wide range of topics starting from her diet plan to maintaining skin quality. Here are the excerpts:
Fitness mantra
What’s your fitness mantra? The moment you ask Sayantani she will give an instant reply - I follow proper diet and light exercise! You can see the effect in this picture from a recent photoshoot by Tathagato Ghosh and makeup by Pritam Das. She adds: “I don’t like heave exercise, instead try to maintain a balance between diet and workout. I don’t go for heavyweight workout sessions, most of the times I do cardio. To maintain your fitness, protein enriched diet is must. Exercise is always crucial to help a fast metabolism and to burn more calories each day. It also helps me maintain the muscle mass and weight loss.”
Diet plan
It’s another picture from the same photoshoot by Tathagato Ghosh and isn’t she look gorgeous? Sayantani reveals her diet chart as well: “Black coffee is a must, preferably twice in a day. Egg white is also a must. I can’t drink Milk, so opt for chana regularly. My lunch includes dalia with all vegetables but no salt. I don’t skip fish, chicken or mutton, it should be home-cooked, I just avoid the fat. However, I must have one cheat day every week. It’s that time when I don’t think about my diet chart. Those who are overweight, it’s preferable to first loose the weight a bit and then start following your diet chart.”
How to maintain the skin quality
I don’t go to parlours for facial, rather I prefer to visit the doctor, a skin specialist. I regularly visit Dr. Dolly Gupta. Whatever she advises I follow it religiously. We have to deal with heavy makeup. Our hair gets damaged easily. So, I go through proper treatment. I don’t use any chemical product, as my skin is a bit sensitive. Splashing cold water makes the skin fresh and glowing. For hair, a mild shampoo and conditioner is a must to avoid stickiness.
Beat the summer heat secret
Scrub your face every day but don’t overdo it. Drink plenty of water to avoid dehydration and remain fresh and have fruit salads, drink plenty of tender coconut water. Use a good sunscreen, it would be better if it’s medicated. And when outside you must carry an umbrella. I know it may sound a bit old-school but to beat the scorching heat it’s the best option. There will always be a small amount of tan in your skin despite using sunscreen. Also summer diet should include high protein and low carb foods like chicken and loads of green veggies.
Yoga
I used do a lot of yoga during my early days. It enhances your fitness level, flexibility, muscle strength. I believe yoga can be more beneficial than working out in gym. Yoga also brings together physical and mental disciplines to have a peaceful body and mind. It actually helps manage stress and anxiety and keeps you relaxing all the time. It also helps in increasing body tone improving respiration, energy and vitality.
Proper sleep
It’s very important to have a proper sleep, like an 8-hour sleep at night. Aami to ghumate darun bhalobashi. If you have a sound sleep at night, you will automatically feel the energy next day. Sleep is important for several aspects of the brain function as well. This includes cognition, concentration, productivity and performance. Plus, mental health problems, like depression, are strongly linked to poor sleep and sleeping disorders. So, my advice is have a proper sleep at the end of the day.
