While most of the cinema hall owners are eyeing the Christmas festivities to bring audience back to theatres, release of many Bengali films have been pushed to next year owing to the uncertain future. Among these films,
Raj Chakraborty’s two upcoming directorial ‘
Habji Gabji
’ and ‘
Dharmajuddho
’, both waiting for December release, have now been deferred. Raj himself took to his social media handle to announce the news.
With an ensemble casting of Swatilekha Sengupta,
Ritwick Chakraborty,
Subhashree Ganguly,
Parno Mittra
, and
Soham
, ‘Dharmajuddho’ revolves around a small town of Ismailpur, which suffers an apocalyptic night as the town descends to anarchy as a sudden communal riot breaks out. Four victims, rivals to each other, take shelter in an old woman’s home, who awaits her son’s arrival. Conflicts break out within the four members as the outside anxiety grips all of them, with the old woman playing the role of a pacifier throughout the fateful night. As dawn cracks, the four members are met with conscience as the old woman’s crestfallen truth unravels upon them; thus bringing upon the realisation that humanity is the foremost religion.
Meanwhile, ‘Habji Gabji’ starring
Parambrata Chatterjee and Subhashree Ganguly in the lead for the first time will address a socially relevant issue like the young generation is obsessed with mobile and internet gaming. In fact, the title has been derived from a hugely popular mobile game PUBG. In the film, Parambrata and Subhashree play working parents who can’t give enough time to their kid and the kid is getting lost more and more in the virtual world of internet and mobile.
Incidentally, Raj had earlier announced that he would only release his films theatres instead of any OTT platform.
