There is one scene in Alik Sukh, where Soumitra da (Chatterjee) explains to Debshankar Haldar the responsibilities of a doctor. The way he enacted the scene inspires me a lot and it still gives me goosebumps. That particular scene will haunt me for a very long time. I was in love with Soumitra da after watching him as Amal in Charulata. Amal’s ideologies used to inspire me. I guess the

character

was shaped in such a way that it inspired many. Soumitra da as Mayurbahan in Jhinder Bondi was outstanding. He proved that even a negative character could draw attention of the audience. Such was his charisma and acting prowess.
