Talented filmmaker Indranil Banerjee is on cloud nine and why not! After winning nine prestigious awards worldwide his critically acclaimed short film ‘Urmimala’ will now compete at Russia’s one of the most coveted film festivals, the Genesis International Film Festival.
An elated Indranil shared, “As a filmmaker, I always challenge to take newcomers in my films because I believe in talent and real hidden talents, not in box artists.
So this is something extremely huge for me after the world premiere of Urmimala at the 7th Emirates International film festival. I want to thank the entire cast and crew for this and my producer for having complete faith in me.”
The young Kolkata filmmaker who has previously made critically acclaimed films like ‘The Chase’ (2015), ‘The Mirage’ (2016), ‘Trinayani —The 3rd Eye’ (2017), ‘One Night Stand’ (2018), ‘Hello’ (2019) and ‘Hakchoooo’ (2020) says it feels great to see the hard work is paying off.
‘Urmimala’, starring
Asish Pathak, Shampa Mukherjee, Piyali Dhar, Satya Charan Sardar and Gokul Mullick in key roles, revolves around an established author. One day a beautiful floozy woman enters the author’s room at midnight. A totally quiescent and secluded aura prevails all around. The lady comes toward the author and introduces herself. The next few moments change the author’s life forever. The characters created by the
author often become alive and vivacious in the auxiliary world of imagination and perception. So, what happens here? That’s what forms the crux of the story.
