After months of speculations,
Parambrata Chattopadhyay has finally announced the
Soumitra Chatterjee biopic which will be helmed by the actor-director.
What’s more interesting is
Jisshu Sengupta will be seen as a young Soumitra Chatterjee, while the living legend himself will portray the later phase of his life.
While the script is being written by Padmanabha Dasgupta, the much-anticipated biopic will cover the 60-year-old career of the thespian in which he has acted in more than 300 films.
“It is an honour that a towering personality like Soumitra Chatterjee has given consent for a biopic. He is an institution of acting for every show biz performer,” an excited Parambrata said.
Apart from Jisshu Sengupta,
Paoli Dam will be seen as Suchitra Sen, critically acclaimed filmmaker Qaushiq Mukherjee will essay
Satyajit Ray.
Rudranil Ghosh will take on the role of legendary Rabi Ghosh. The biopic will go on the floors in February.
Soumitra Chatterjee has managed to break all those preconceived notions of retirement – even at age of 85 he is more active than ever.
