Kay Kay Menon turns Shekhar Home for Srijit Mukherji’s next; Trailer out now

After having his tryst with Kakababu, Feluda and Byomkesh Bakshi, Srijit Mukherji has shifted his viewfinder to Sherlock Holmes. The ace Tollywood director is turning to the Hindi entertainment industry once again with his next detective directorial ‘Shekhar Home’. Srijit, along with Rohan Sippy, is bringing Sherlock Holmes to the screen with ‘Shekhar Home’. Kay Kay Menon will be seen playing the titular character. After the First look and motion poster, the trailer of the film is out now. The film will be available for online streaming on the eve of this Independence Day.

Sherlock Holmes, undoubtedly is one of the most discussed and celebrated characters in the world of detectives. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s Sherlock has been able to hold the readers’ intrigue for generations. Sherlock’s stories have been adapted for the screen several times – through films and series. This time, Srijit will be bringing Shekhar Home to the screen, who is inspired by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s writings.

Kay Kay Menon will be portraying the titular character and the detective in this project. The first look of Kay Kay Menon as Shekhar Home released a few days ago where the actor is seen wearing a coat and a hat, with a look of suspicion in his eyes. Srijit shared the poster on his social media profile, writing, “Piece it together and you'll realize HE is the only one who can solve all mysteries.” The director announced the project will be available on a popular streaming platform soon.

The trailer of ‘Shekhar Home’ gives the viewers a glimpse of Old Kolkata and various rural parts of West Bengal, setting the backdrop of the film. Kay Kay Menon is seen wearing Bengali style cotton Panjabi and black rimmed glasses, and using phrases like ‘Satyanweshi’, ‘Private Investigator’, ‘High Functioning Sociopath’ which evokes the nostalgia amongst the audience who already are well-versed with detectives like Byomkesh Bakshi, Feluda, Sherlock Holmes.

After Srijit expressed his interest in making a project based on Sherlock Holmes, there was an ample amount of speculation regarding who will be playing the bonafide detective. The first look of Kay Kay Menon as Shekhar Home answers all those questions. Ravir Shorey is likely to play the part of Dr John Watson, Sherlock’s trusted associate and friend. Apart from Menon and Shorey, Rasika Dugal, Kirti Kulhari and Dibyendu Bhattacharya will be seen in pivotal roles. ‘Shekhar Home’ will be released on a popular OTT platform on August 14.
