'Mati': Paoli Dam to share screen space with Adil Hussain for the first time

Paoli Dam is reliving her TV days as she has reunited with Leena Gangopadhyay, a popular writer-director of Bengali soap operas, for an upcoming social drama, 'Mati', a film that tells the story of an Indian woman (

Meghla

) trying to find her roots in

Bangladesh

and in the process discovers a new meaning of love, partition and humanity.

Bollywood actor Adil Hussain will play the male lead (Jamil) opposite Paoli. This is the first time Paoli and Adil are sharing screen space. The shooting has been done in Bangladesh and West Bengal.

Popular actress Aparajita Adhya will play a Bangla character in this film. Her character in ‘Mati’ refuses to leave her home during the dark days of the partition while her family leaves for Kolkata and eventually meets a tragic end. Aparajita’s story comes in flashback.

The cast also includes Monami Ghosh, Sabitri Chatterjee and Anusuya Majumdar.

If all goes according to plan, ‘Mati’ will release at the end of May. Watch the trailer here:
