Meet the superheroes, feeding smiles with POSHAN
POSHAN, an initiative started by university students Raj Jha, Archit Gupta and Aryan Nair, has emerged as a significant force in combating hunger across Delhi NCR. The project, which began during their undergraduate internship after encountering hungry children near their office building, has transformed from a modest goal of distributing 100-200 food boxes monthly into a substantial humanitarian effort.
The organization has successfully provided meals to over 6,000 people through strategic corporate collaborations, with an ambitious target of reaching 10,000 beneficiaries by April's end. Beyond immediate relief, POSHAN focuses on addressing the root causes of food insecurity through educational programs on nutrition, sustainability, and self-reliance.
"Feeding those in need isn't just about providing a meal, it's about restoring dignity," said Raj Jha, who co-founded the initiative while balancing academic responsibilities.
Statistics reveal that more than 230 million people in India face daily hunger, a sobering reality that drives POSHAN's expanding mission. Volunteers form the backbone of this effort, organizing distribution drives and awareness campaigns across the region.
Several restaurants including IAN's Vegan Kitchen and Dalicious have joined the cause, allocating a portion of their profits to support POSHAN's work. These partnerships not only provide financial sustainability but also raise critical awareness about urban food insecurity.
SILVERSEVEN was among the first businesses to back the project, committing to deeper investigation of hunger-related issues. POSHAN now invites additional corporate sponsors through CSR initiatives and welcomes volunteers interested in participating in food distribution drives.
The initiative demonstrates how student-led projects can evolve into sustainable models for addressing critical social challenges through community engagement and corporate responsibility.
