’ deals with the harsh reality of the heinous and grave crime of rape which has become a plague in our society and sends a strong message to the society.

Sreelekha Mitra, Badshah Moitra, Surojit Debnath, Asish Vidyarthi, Meghali,
Kharaj Mukherjee, Raj and others are playing important roles in the film.
Raj will be seen as the boyfriend of Shalini, the character essayed by Meghali. “The Nirbhaya incident remains one of the gruesome incidents in the history of our country. With this film we hope such incidents will stop and women will again feel safe in India” Raj said.
Meghali, who is set for her debut with ‘Nirbhoya’, received many offers from other Bengali films but she waited for this one to release first as ‘Nirbhoya’ happens to be her first acted Bengali movie. She has also revealed portraying this role was a big challenge as it was a real life incident which shook the faith of the entire nation.
The social drama has been shot in and around Kolkata and Delhi. There is only one Rabindra Sangeet in the film. The background music has been done by Soumitra Kundu.
‘Nirbhoya’ is slated for a release on August 31.
