This is perhaps a first in India. An actor directing the music video of a number from a film in which he has starred! While Tollywood has seen some interesting collaborations in the recent past, this one involving Parambrata Chattopadhyay and Srijit Mukherji could well become a trend-setter in the industry.Parambrata, who has acted in Srijit���������s ���������Baishey Srabon���������, is directing a music video of a number from the movie.
Says Parambrata, ���������Though I���������m busy with ���������Ekla Akash��������� and ���������Maach, Mishti & More���������, I was more than happy to shoot this video for Srijit���������s film. I have already begun shooting for the music video of ���������Ei srabon��������� that has been sung by Rupam.���������
Two days of shooting for the music video is already over. Says Srijit, ���������When we shot a video for ���������Benche thakar gaan��������� from ���������Autograph���������, we had a film-within-a-film concept in mind while conceiving the video. In case of ���������Ei srabon���������, we are also trying to thematically link the various important issues in the film with the music video.���������
For Srijit, this ability to pass on the baton briefly to Param is a challenging exercise. ���������For this video, we revisited various locations where we had shot the movie. I have also been learning certain new things while being the executive producer of the movie. Both Param and I have worked together on scripts earlier and both of us came up with the script for this music video. Param was supposed to do ���������Autograph���������. He had date issues and that���������s why he couldn���������t do the movie. I have directed Param in theatre and cinema. When I wrote ���������Baishey Srabon���������, I wanted Param to direct it for television. Talks had progressed too. Subsequently, I went on to direct ���������BS��������� as a movie where Param acted. It���������s nice to do collaborative work this way.���������
It���������s been some years since Bollywood got into this collaborative mode. Vishal Bhardwaj wrote and composed the music for Abhishek Chaubey���������s ���������Ishqiya���������. Vidhu Vinod Chopra co-wrote ���������3 Idiots��������� with Abhijat Joshi and Raju Hirani. Much before that, Sanjay Leela Bhansali co-wrote ���������1942: A Love Story��������� and also directed some of the film���������s songs. ���������Tollywood has just started this collaborative process. This will only benefit the industry,��������� Srijit signs off.
