Nusraat Faria: It’s a privilege & honour to play Sheikh Hasina onscreen
The highly anticipated biopic on Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, titled 'Mujib: The Making Of A Nation', is all set for its theatrical release after an impressive festival run. Directed by ace filmmaker Shyam Benegal, the film, sees Nusraat Faria playing Mujib's daughter, Sheikh Hasina, the Bangladeshi Prime Minister, while the iconic figure of Sheikh Mujib is played by the famous Bangladeshi actor, Arifin Shuvoo.
Nusraat Faria, who is known for her engaging social media posts that often garner both acclaim and criticism, saw an outpour of good wishes ahead of the film’s release. People are eagerly waiting to see her as Sheikh Hasina and the actress recently teased her fans by sharing her look from the film.
The Instagram picture sees her elegantly draped in a white saree, complemented by a head veil, and gold jewelry, and holding a red rose, which was captioned, "On her wedding." Sharing her sentiments about portraying such a prominent figure, she expressed her disbelief saying it was a monumental honor. Nusraat said, “It's an unparalleled experience.
The entire team poured in their heart and soul. The fruition of our efforts, with the movie's release, is truly gratifying.” She cherished the opportunity as a rare privilege, saying, “This role is a significant milestone in my career, even if I were to never act again.”
Sheikh Hasina herself was aware of Nusraat's portrayal. When asked if the Prime Minister offered any advice or insights, Nusraat, with a beaming smile, shared, "Sheikh Hasina emphasized the importance of confidence and encouraged me to interpret the character in my unique way." The biopic, a collaborative effort between India and Bangladesh, is set to hit the big screens on October 27.
On the other hand, Arifin Shuvoo, who is playing the pivotal role of Bangabandhu, articulated his profound sense of responsibility and commitment. He elaborated, “Being selected to represent Bangabandhu in a film directed by the legendary Shyam Benegal is undoubtedly the pinnacle of my acting career. I've given my utmost to ensure my portrayal pays fitting tribute to such a colossal figure.”
