The trailer of Abhimanyu Mukherjee’s film Kirtan featuring Paran Bandhopadhyay, Arunima Ghosh and Gaurab Chatterjee was released digitally today.
The film is a slice-of-life story of s household conflict between a woman named Monimala and her father-in-law. The story set in a north Kolkata house shows the conflict between traditional and new-age values, the tussle between old beliefs and new-generation expectations. The director tells a Bengali tale with dollops of humour and deep sensitivity.
“After a long time, I essayed the character of a married woman on screen. The audience will be able to relate to my character as she is the woman next door. She fights with her father-in-law but there is a strong bonding between them too. After a long time, I am part of a comedy film. In today’s time where people are mostly stressed, this film will be fresh to all. The dialogues are all hilarious,” said Arunima.
Paran on his part added, “This is a family drama which will be enjoyed by people of all age groups.”
