‘LYAAD’ is a musical journey of an overworked corporate hotshot. Pressed between his devil of a boss and an ever-demanding wife, Kinkar looks for some solace in an unlikely ally. Raja Da, the king of ghosts appears, to give Kinkar that one thing which was missing from his life. The
LYAAD
boon! What follows is a hilarious roller coaster of an epic slumber, a trip to
fantasy
land!
LYAAD also becomes the first animation (short) film of
Ritwick Chakraborty, who has also been the main protagonist of 3 national award-winning films in three consecutive years. Notable national award filmmaker
Pradipta Bhattacharya
has directed the musical short film.
The concept got seeded over a lazy Sunday afternoon skype adda between a Bengali tech geek Shankar Seal in Seattle and his musician friend Anirban in Kolkata! What followed next is 65 days of madness and meticulous animation to execute the first animation film of Ritwick.
“The arrangement of the song is in
jazz
blues genre with a flair of hip-hop intonations! However, the sound design is very distinctively different from a regular jazz number though” says Anirban Ajay Das.
Indie Filmmaker Pradipta Bhattacharya who is extremely respected for his critically acclaimed films like ‘Bakita Byaktigoto’ and recently released ‘Rajlokhi O Srikanto’ recollects, “From the very word Lyaad, I knew I have got something exciting and fun to work upon… and something that is very different to what I was doing all this while!”
The film, produced by ICE Media Lab, was released online recently.
