The trailer of ‘

Mukherjee Dar Bou

’ already gives us an outline of the plot that revolves around a mother-in-law and a daughter-in-law but that’s not all of it. There’s more to this general consensus. Director Pritha Chakraborty also suggests it’s not the typical saas-bahu drama we see in TV.

“Yes, these two women often indulge in a sort of cold war but that doesn’t mean they are against each other. We have to understand it’s the situation that forces them react like this. In my film the saas-bahu jodi rediscovers their new identity and the true meaning of their relationship,” explains Pritha.

‘Mukherjee Dar Bou’ tries to explore the identity crisis that engulfs almost every housewife in our society. Starring Rituparna Sengupta,

Anusua Majumdar

, Koneenica Banerjee, Biswanath Basu, Aparajita Adhya and Badshah Maitra, it promises to highlight the not-so-talked-about female friendships inside the families where women are often driven to loneliness post marriage.

The story, penned by Samragnee Bandyopadhyay, revolves around Shobharani (Majumdar), a widow of a certain Mr Mukherjee and her daughter-in-law Aditi who can’t stand each other. Shobharani and Aditi’s continuous efforts at highlighting their importance in each other’s eyes actually explore the deep rooted insecurity in them. However, beneath the insecurities there’s ignorance from their husbands, an acute loneliness and lack of companionship.

‘Mukherjee Dar Bou’ is set to release on Women’s Day, March 8.
