Prosenjit Chatterjee in a period drama, film to see three female leads

’. Anjan who’s a well-known theatre personality has previously directed a slice-f-a-life drama ‘

Sahobashe

’. The film is waiting for its theatrical release and now, he’s back with his dream project.

‘Saajhghar’ will explore the timeframe when the British used to rule India and as the title suggests the story will have some key characters from the theatre and film world of that time.

Prosenjit

has been cast in one of those significant characters. However, the celebrated actor doesn’t want to divulge much about the plot right now. “All I can say is my look in this film will surprise everyone. It’s such a character from a period which anyone can relate to,” he shared.

Speaking about working with new filmmakers, the ‘Robibaar’ actor said I have known Anjan for a long time and I even heard this script many years ago. “When I was told about the story I liked it instantly. But because of the pandemic and others reasons we couldn’t start the film. But, now after a long time I will work with a new filmmaker. I have worked with those who were once assistant directors and now popular filmmakers in the industry. On the other hand, Soumik Sen despite making films in Mumbai made his first Bengali film ‘

Mahalaya

’ which I had produced. So, I am always open to work with new filmmakers,” explained Prosenjit.

Besides Prosenjit in the lead, there will be three female leads in ‘Saajhghar’ but cast hasn’t yet been finalised. Actress Koneenica Bandopadhyay will also be seen in a pivotal role. There are plans to rope in actors from Mumbai as well.

Speaking about the film Anjan shared the story was penned almost 10 years ago, “From the very beginning I had planned to cast dada in this role. I was convinced that whenever I do this film I will be doing it only with Prosenjit Chatterjee.

The pre-production work of the film is already in full swing. Since it’s a period film there are so many works to do in pre-production. The film will be shot in and around Kolkata. However, how things work out after Puja and given the pandemic situation the shoot might start early next year.
