Rare childhood pictures of Prosenjit Chatterjee you shouldn’t miss

Before he achieved the fame, the glam, there was childhood innocence and wide-eyed awe just like his countless fans. Born to yesteryear’s Bollywood star Biswajit (who cast Prosenjit at the age of four in ‘Chhotto Jigyasa’), Prosenjit Chatterjee’s glorious journey to superstardom hasn’t been one single leap. He oozes charm, elegance and is shrouded with fame even after three decades in the industry. However, years before he was set upon a pedestal by his adoring fans, Prosenjit Chatterjee led a life quite unknown to his many admirers and fanatics. Scroll down to have a look at these rare childhood pictures of the Tollywood superstar.

With father Biswajit in ‘Chotto Jigyasa’

Prosenjit Chatterjee started his acting career as a child actor in Hrishikesh Mukherjee’s ‘Chotto Jigyasa’ (1968), for which he won the Bengali Film Journalist’s Association – Most Outstanding Work of the Year Award. Interestingly he was cast in this film as ‘Bumba’ which is his pet name and also his father Biswajit Chatterjee played the reel-life father to Bumba in it. After ‘Chotto Jigyasa’ he appeared in few other films as a child actor. In this childhood picture you can see an adorable cute Prosenjit with his father during the shooting of ‘Chotto Jigyasa’.

When he was Gublu to everyone

You can see a little Prosenjit in Soumitra Chatterjee’s lap with dad Biswajit Chatterjee and mother Ratna Debi. This picture was taken during his rice-eating ceremony. The Tollywood superstar still cherishes those memories when Uttam Kumar, Saumitra Chatterjee used to call him Gublu as he was a fair complexioned chubby kid. Son of veteran actor Biswajit Chatterjee, Prosenjit is still the most popular figure in Bengali cinema even after three decades since his full-fledged debut.

Little Prosenjit in ‘Gopal’ avatar

Can you guess who this adorably sweet kid is? It’s our very own Bumba Da! Yes, this cute picture was taken during Janmastami when Prosenjit was only few years old. Only last year, the celebrated actor himself shared this picture with his fans wishing all a happy Janmastami. The Tollywood icon is one of the most awarded actors of all time winning so many honours in the best actor category. He is also one of very few Bengali actors who have stepped into several genres ranging from action, comedy, romance and drama with huge success.

A rare picture from the family album

It’s another rare childhood picture of Prosenjit Chatterjee. You can see the naughtiness in his eyes. The innocent smile in his face will no doubt leave you in awe! Born in 1962, Prosenjit was once addicted to playing drum, but it’s quite a long ago. You would be surprised to know that when he was only 12, he became an integral part of a boy band ‘Toofan Melody’. He also likes to enjoy some good music during his free time. Some soothing lyrics with a melodious tune never fail to refresh the actor’s mind. He generally prefers sweet Bengali music but don’t mind listening to other genres as well.

Little Prosenjit with a ball bigger than him!

Firmly holding the ball close to him, a little playful Prosenjit looks calm and cool on a beach holiday. The Tollywood superstar has always said that he often finds his childhood days in his son Trishanjit. Despite being a doting father, Prosenjit is more than like a friend to his son. He even suffers from anxiety attacks every time his son Trishanjit leaves for his hostel. It has become an unsaid rule that Prosenjit’s wife Arpita goes to the airport to receive their son when he is coming home and Prosenjit goes to see him off. Even the popular actor packs his son’s bag for the hostel and being a perfectionist he keeps packing and unpacking the bags all day and night.
