In a delightful and unexpected moment that left everyone smiling, iconic actress Raakhee Gulzar recently drew a charming comparison between actor Kanchan Mallick and the legendary comedian Paintal.
The amusing exchange unfolded during a casual gathering of the film crew for the upcoming movie Aamar Boss. Amid lively conversation, Raakhee appeared deep in thought, clearly struck by a sense of familiarity about Kanchan. Unable to place it at first, she remarked playfully—prompted by director Shiboprosad Mukherjee—“Kanchan, why do you look so familiar?”
Then, in a flash of recognition, Raakhee exclaimed with excitement, “Hey—Paintal!” Her sudden realization was met with laughter and nods from the group. Co-director Nandita Roy joined in, smiling, “He does look like Paintal…”

Reflecting on the moment, Kanchan Mallick shared his heartfelt reaction, “Hearing my name from the mouth of a legend like Raakhee Gulzar filled my heart with joy. The times when she used to call me ‘Paintal’ were truly unforgettable.
