Rachna denies rumours about being replaced as TV show host

Since a week now, Tollywood has been abuzz with rumours that the host of popular television show Didi No 1 is about to change. It was said that Srabanti would replace Rachna Banerjee, who is the show’s host. However, when we asked Rachna about it, she laughed it off. “All these are rumours. I am shooting for the episodes as usual and if there was any news of change, I would have known,” she told us.

A number of posts circulating on social media claim that Srabanti will be anchoring the show instead of Rachna, who is presently hosting the eighth season of the show and has done more than 1,000 episodes. She said that as usual, the show is coming up with a number of special episodes for the upcoming festive season.

Rachna, a senior actor from the Bengali industry, is also a popular face in the Odia and south film industries. She has starred in a number of hit films there. Apart from winning the Miss Calcutta contest in 1994, she had won many other beauty pageants before kicking off her acting career. Till date, she has appeared in around 35 Bengali films and also worked opposite actors like Prosenjit Chatterjee and Chiranjit. Among her several Odia projects, most are with Siddhanta Mahapatra.
